"Along The Road" by Dan Fogelberg, this is one of my favorite songs in his "Phoenix" album (Released November 1979). It encourage us to walk through the journey of our life with a humble heart, there may be fear, lost, absence, darkness, disaster along the road, but there will be joy, light, faith, hope and love. I would like to dedicate this song to my circle DanFan friends, TheLastNail, a.k.a. Alan, and cjthemusicman, a.k.a. Chuck because both of them are on the road a lot, take good care Alan & Chuck, don't forget joy in the coming home! For ALL the DanFans, let Dan's absolutely heart-wrenching and uplifting song to touch your heart once more! Enjoy!
Along The Road
Joy at the start
Fear in the journey
Joy in the coming home
A part of the heart gets lost in the learning
Somewhere along the road
Along the road your path may wander
A pilgrim's faith may fail
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Darkness obscures the trail
Cursing the quest
Courting disaster
Measureless nights forebode
Moments of rest
Glimpses of laughter
Are treasured along the road
Along the road your steps may stumble
Your thoughts may start to stray
But through it all a heart held humble
Levels and lights your way
Joy at the start
Fear in the journey
Joy in the coming home
A part of the heart gets lost in the learning
Somewhere along the road
Somewhere along the road
Somewhere along the road
ps. There is a Dan Fogelberg cover in 1994 by a collaborative effort of three of the top female vocalists in Christian music: Susan Ashton, Margaret Becker, and Christine Dente. Dans vision and influence is very clear!
